For use in fancy decorating… or when you need a WHITE Frosting
This frosting is made with a butter and shortening combination. I got the recipe from the guy in the bakery department at the grocery store, who says they use it because it is easy to make decorations, and it holds up well.
So… use this frosting if –
-you are making complicated decorations
-you are traveling, and know that the cupcakes will get a few jolts
-you love the inside of Oreos (that’s what’s there)
NOTE- DO NOT USE BUTTER FLAVORED SHORTENING..

Very White Decorator Frosting Recipe

1/2 cup Shortening (PLAIN)
1/2 cup Butter (unsalted)
4+ cups Powdered Sugar
few Tsp Milk
Instructions
In the Stand Mixer-
Whip up the 3 egg whites until Soft Peaks form (they look soft, not pointy when you pull up the whip attachment).
Make sure your butter is soft by leaving it out at room temperature for an hour or so.
Set mixer to low.
Add a few Tablespoons of the Shortening, and a cup of powdered sugar… whip attachment
Put 1/4 of the Butter into the stand mixer a teaspoon at a time
Add 1 cup of Powdered Sugar… whip
Add more rest of shortening
scrape down sides
Add another cup of Powdered Sugar
Add the rest of the Butter
Add a teaspoonful of the Vanilla
Add the rest of the Powdered Sugar
Scrape
Whip on high for 2 minutes
Ok… now look at what you have… you probably need to add some milk to smooth it out. Start with 2 teaspoons.
Whip, scrape, whip
Is it smooth? Fluffy?
If it is too stiff, add more milk
If it is too soft, add more powdered sugar.
